The Office of the Fire Marshal has launched a monthly newsletter intended to keep citizens informed of fire prevention efforts
and public education opportunities within the City of Galveston. Each months edition of "Code Red" can be found on this site and can be downloaded in PDF format.
City Of Galveston Adopts 2009 International Fire Code
The City of Galveston has officially adopted the 2009 International Fire Code. This code also includes the 2009 edition of the "NFPA 101 Life Safety Code" (NFPA 2009) in its entirety. The adoption of this code will reflect in the decrease in the number of
unsafe and life threatening structures. It will also increase the safety requirements for new and existing buildings. This change will allow the City of Galveston to be more proactive and effective in addressing a wide variety of life safety and fire safety issues.
