Fire Marshal Gilbert Robinson


Fire Marshal Gilbert Robinson is the Division Chief of the Fire Prevention and Arson Divisions of the Galveston Fire Department.


The Fire Prevention Division conducts regular inspections on commercial and retail businesses within the City of Galveston.


The Arson Division is responsible for conducting investigations of all fires determined to be suspicious in nature. This division investigates explosions, fire related deaths, life threatening burn injuries, suspected explosive devices, and bomb threats.


Gilbert began his career with the Galveston Fire Department in February 1981. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Fire Marshal in 2000 and appointed Fire Marshal in January 2001. Gilbert holds various certifications through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards. Gilbert is a former Fire Commissioner for the State of Texas and past president of the Galveston Firefighters Local 571. In October 2005 Gilbert organized the Greater Houston Fire Marshal's Council, where he served as Chairman of the Board for 60 fire marshals and fire investigators.
