Suppression Division

The Galveston Fire Department Suppression Division is comprised of 115 uniformed personnel assigned to three shifts. The six fire stations are strategically placed throughout the 31 mile island and consist of:

  • 6 Engine Companies
  • 2 Truck Companies
  • 1 Squad Company
  • 1 Safety Officer
  • 1 Battalion Chief (Shift Commander)
  • 2 Brush Trucks



Galveston Fire Department operates with 4-man Engine Companies to increase firefighter safety on the fireground and to comply with the NFPA "Two-in, Two out" rule.
